Psychosocial Risk Management: Beyond Compliance - Good for People, Good for Business

Thursday, 30 April 2026

9am - 5pm
BHP Perth

Many organisations are investing heavily in psychosocial risk management yet still struggle to see meaningful change in how work is experienced or how psychosocial risk is managed day to day.

Policies exist. Training is delivered. Escalation pathways are defined… and yet the same issues (workload, role conflict, change fatigue, bullying and burnout) continue to surface.

Global Safety Innovation’s next Think Tank is designed for organisations that want to move beyond compliance and build capable, practical approaches to psychosocial risk management that support people feeling good at work and therefore performance.

This is not a wellbeing seminar or a policy review. It is a highly interactive, evidence led working session focused on how work is designed, how systems and leadership shape risk, and what actually works in practice.

The Think Tank will focus on:

  • Why many current approaches to psychosocial risk are not delivering results
  • Common myths and misconceptions… and what the evidence really says
  • The difference between psychosocial risk, psychological safety, and mental health
  • How upstream work design, leadership and systems drive downstream outcomes
  • How to redesign work to reduce psychosocial risk rather than simply respond to harm

Participants will work in small groups on realistic scenarios, guided by evidence and expert input.

Meet the experts:

The Think Tank will be guided by David Burroughs and Carlo Caponecchia, who will work with participants throughout the day.

  • David brings deep, practical experience in psychosocial risk management and work design, supporting organisations to address risk at its source, through how work is designed, led and supported.
  • Carlo is a Professor of Work, Health and Safety whose research and industry work focuses on psychosocial risk, bullying and organisational systems, helping translate evidence into approaches that actually work in practice.

Together, they bring a strong combination of evidence, operational insight, and practical challenge, supporting participants to move beyond compliance and towards capable, effective practice.

What you’ll leave with:

  • A clearer, more realistic view of your organisation’s psychosocial risk maturity
  • Practical redesign principles you can apply immediately
  • A shared language for engaging leaders beyond compliance
  • Increased confidence in navigating complex psychosocial risk conversations
